„A world-class sand sculpture park is planned to be established in Palanga, which will operate year-round! And it will not be a one-time exhibition. Sand sculptures will be created by artists from all over the world, and international sand sculpture workshops will be held annually in Palanga. This means that the park will constantly change – every year visitors will find new, impressive, and never-before-seen sculptures,“ announced Palanga mayor Šarūnas Vaitkus.
More details about the new park, which is planned to open its doors next April, were told to 15min by the resort businessman and idea nurturer Paulius Rojus.
It was his three-year-old son Jokūbas who became the inspiration for the new sculpture for the artist Andrius Petkus. Only the boy, sitting on the table, was scattering not letters, but candies.
In the sculpture made of scattered letters, more than 30 words can be counted, and the more attentive may find even more.
P. Rojus and A. Petkus together visited many sand sculpture parks around the world. The sculptor has worked and created in several of them.

In Palanga, the new park, which would be called the “Giga Art Park,” is planned to be located in premises of almost 800 square meters. The height of the building is almost 9 meters.
In the initial stage, about 50 sand sculptures would be presented to visitors in Palanga. They would all be united by one theme – books. The exhibition would always be updated and supplemented. “The first thought is that people could come to this park once, five times, even ten times,” said P. Rojus.
There is also a dream of huge sculptures that people could enter and stay inside.
The businessman estimates that the initial investment in the new park could reach up to 300 thousand euros.
