This is reported by the independent Russian media portal “Mediazona.” According to it, a sculpture depicting two Russian soldiers was unveiled in Yakutsk.
Previously, there was a memorial here for deportees from Poland and Lithuania, made up of five large stone blocks with informational plaques.
“They began to be dismantled in 2023: first the memorial plaques disappeared, then the memorial stones were dismantled. City officials were unable to explain where the plaques went, and the subsequent dismantling of the memorial was explained by the Department for the Protection of Cultural Monuments by the fact that they did not have protected status,” writes “Mediazona.”
However, the fact that it was built in the same place resembles a real provocation.
Now there stands a sculpture of two Russian soldiers.
They participated in the war against Ukraine initiated by Russia, came from the Yakutsk region, and died on the same day – September 9, 2023, fighting in Ukraine. According to the local news portal ulus.media, both were volunteers, meaning they went to fight in the bloody war in Ukraine of their own free will.
