Fuel oil terminal burning in Novorossiysk

Drones also attacked Novorossiysk itself (Krasnodar Krai, Russia) during the night. After the strikes, a large fire broke out in the fuel oil terminal area, reports „RBK Ukraine“.

It concerns the Novorossiysk fuel oil terminal – one of the most important enterprises of the Novorossiysk transport hub. It belongs to the Novorossiysk Sea Commercial Port, the largest sea port in Russia by cargo volume. The terminal is focused on the storage and transshipment of fuel oil and light petroleum products. Its throughput is about 4 million tons per year.

Besides the industrial facility, the fire spread to at least one apartment building on Kunikova Street.

„RBK Ukraine“ recalled that a large fire was recorded in Novorossiysk after a series of explosions in the port infrastructure area. Witnesses filmed the powerful fire, and local authorities only acknowledged the fact of the drones’ “attack repulsion,” without reporting any destruction or casualties.

Russia is suffering much greater losses in the Black Sea than Ukraine. Meanwhile, the port complex’s operations in Novorossiysk were minimal, and cargo volumes were approaching zero.
