The British portal “Daily Star” recalls the accident that occurred on July 22, 2025, and the last moments of the entrepreneur’s life.
The tragedy took place in the private “Gondwana” wildlife reserve, located near Mosel Bay in South Africa. One of the country’s most luxurious safari parks offers exclusive conditions for tourists, and accommodation here can cost about 900 pounds sterling.
F.C. Conradie was one of the owners and managers of this reserve. Known as FC among friends and employees, the man was well acquainted with the reserve’s territory and the animals living there.
Attempted to protect guests
On the morning of July 22, a herd of elephants approached the cottages intended for tourists. At that time, there were guests staying in the reserve, so F.C. Conradie decided to direct the animals away from the inhabited area.
However, the attempt to lead them in another direction ended tragically. It is reported that one elephant weighing about six tons suddenly became aggressive and attacked the man.
The animal injured the reserve owner with its tusks, knocked him to the ground, and trampled him. F.C. Conradie suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Whether the horrific attack was witnessed by the reserve’s guests has not been publicly disclosed.

Three children lost their father
The deceased man was married and raised three children. After his death, representatives of the reserve expressed condolences to his wife, children, other relatives, friends, and the entire “Gondwana” team.
Relatives described F.C. Conradie as a person who loved nature and wild animals, dedicating a large part of his life to the reserve. It was there that the man met the tragic end of his life.
In the “Gondwana” reserve, one can see the so-called African big five – lions, leopards, rhinoceroses, elephants, and buffaloes. Tourists observe the animals while driving around the territory with guides and stay in luxurious nature-surrounded cottages.
An adult African elephant can weigh up to six tons, be about four meters tall, and run at speeds up to 40 kilometers per hour. Due to their size and strength, these animals can fatally injure a person in a matter of moments.
Elephants usually do not attack without reason but can become aggressive if frightened, sensing a threat to the herd or calves. Males can also behave dangerously during certain periods of increased hormonal activity.
