It is reported that during the visit G. Langas joined U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. G. Langas participated in a preparatory meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s envoy Kirill Dmitriev, but did not attend the meeting with V. Putin.
“Axios” writes that G. Langas’s participation indicates that one of the discussion topics was U.S. sanctions on Russia.
Last week, during the G20 finance ministers’ meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant met with his Russian counterpart and stated that the U.S. will pressure Russia until it ends the war with Ukraine.

V. Putin’s foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov later told Russian journalists that S. Witkoff and J. Kushner “seriously prepared for this visit. They not only expressed the traditional interest in the swift cessation of hostilities, but also formulated several ideas regarding possible ways to resolve the conflict.”
A White House official told “Axios” that representatives from the National Security Council, State Department, and Treasury Department participated in the meeting along with S. Witkoff, J. Kushner, and V. Putin.
According to him, “the parties discussed concrete plans for further actions, which will be announced in the coming weeks, and hope that the meetings in Ukraine on Sunday will be no less fruitful.”
