The young Kaunas “Žalgiris” basketball players, who have already started preparing for the upcoming season, have received reinforcement in the coaching staff, writes zalgiris.lt.

Vytenis Lipkevičius, a longtime Žalgiris player, has joined the coaching staff of the “Žalgiris-3” team competing in the “Nostra.lt-RKL” league.

Earlier, another former Žalgiris player, Tadas Klimavičius, joined the coaching staff of the “Žalgiris-2” team.

37-year-old V. Lipkevičius ended a seven-year stage this summer at the Panevėžys “Lietkabelis” club, where he was the team captain and one of the team’s leaders.

The professional basketball player began his career as a forward at the then Arvydas Sabonis basketball school.

At the beginning of his career, the player signed a contract with Kaunas “Žalgiris” and gained experience in other Lithuanian Basketball League clubs, and since 2011 became an important part of the Žalgiris team.
With Kaunas “Žalgiris,” V. Lipkevičius became the Lithuanian Basketball League champion for five consecutive seasons and also played in the EuroLeague. During his career, he also represented the Prienai club and played in Germany.

Starting a new stage in his coaching career, V. Lipkevičius will work with young players in the “Žalgiris” system and help them take their first steps in professional basketball with his accumulated experience.
The former Žalgiris player will combine coaching with playing in the “URBO-NKL” championship, where he will wear the jersey of the Jurbarkas “Jurbarko-Karys” team in the upcoming season.
