This year, the local government program “Local Government for Every Day” will be approved.
“True local government is not seen when a ribbon is cut at the opening of a new facility, but when a person feels safe in their environment every day, can conveniently balance work and family, and receives quality services on time,” said the party chairman Laurynas Kasčiūnas on the eve of the congress.

Direct elections for mayors and municipal councils will take place in the spring of 2027. The Speaker of the Seimas proposes holding them on March 7, but the parliament still needs to approve this.
Gintarė Skaistė, former Minister of Finance and member of the Seimas, who leads the Conservative central local government election headquarters, has said that the ratings allow for a good result to be predicted, and the main goals set are to win the most mandates and strengthen positions in districts controlled by social democrats.
In the 2023 local government elections, TS-LKD won a total of 244 mandates, trailing the winning social democrats by 130 mandates.
The party has nominated 34 candidates for mayoral posts, and plans to confirm the rest by October 30.
Just last week, Šarūnas Jasiukevičius, a public figure and businessman, became the TS-LKD candidate for mayor of Kaunas city.

In Šiauliai, the post will be sought by city council member and party branch chairman Martynas Šiurkus, and in Panevėžys – former Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, current council member Ignas Gaižiūnas.
The congress will also present the party awards “Lithuanian Oaks,” which honor individuals who have contributed to the independence of the state.
The event will be attended by former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi.
The Conservatives are currently the largest opposition party, with 28 representatives in the Seimas.
Data from a “Spinter Research” public opinion poll conducted in July commissioned by the news portal “Delfi” showed that the largest share of respondents, 16.2 percent, would vote for the Conservatives in the parliamentary elections.
