– We know very well that Mariupol is a highly symbolic and important city for “Azov”. You say that you currently control logistics around the Mariupol bypass. Why is this area a priority for you?

. – The answer to this question is very simple. First, the Donetsk-Mariupol road is the main enemy logistics route. We could see this in the first video we published. Initially, we controlled that logistics route.

Then our intelligence reported that even more occupier equipment and assets were moving along the Mariupol-Taganrog road. Therefore, the corps leadership set the task to block this enemy logistics artery so that it could not transfer its resources from Russian territory to logistics centers in Mariupol itself, and then to the north. This has a very direct impact on what is happening in our operational zone.

Working against logistics routes deep in enemy territory makes sense, why? Because the further from the front line, the more cargo, the more concentrated the transported cargo, the less protected it is. To protect it, the enemy has to stretch airspace surveillance posts. The Russians simply cannot block all these logistics routes.

– Many fighters convinced me that it would be a bit too optimistic to say that we could fully control this enemy logistics, to dream of some complete logistical blockade of southern Ukraine. To date, we have very uneven capabilities of various units. If “Azov” has such capabilities and opportunities, it closes its sector, but next to “Azov” we have two dozen corps that are still growing to that level, and there are some that have not even started, they simply do not have the capabilities and resources to undertake such work. Last weekend I visited various headquarters in the Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions. I was told that dreaming of full enemy logistics control is not appropriate. How would you comment on this?

– The comment is very simple. First, as you noticed, we have different corps with different capabilities, and drone system forces are involved to assist these corps. Where the corps cannot reach, drone systems help.

We have a clear task set by the corps leadership. We have to support the front line, but if we do not regain the initiative at the operational level, this war will be endless for us. We have to take the initiative. Therefore, the corps leadership set the appropriate priorities.

To say that we have no problems in the tactical zone would be a lie. All brigades and the corps have problems at the tactical level. However, we have to allocate resources accordingly to impact the enemy both at the front line and in the operational depth and even a bit further. Otherwise, I repeat, we will fight this war endlessly.

– Tell us, what are the possibilities to increase the capabilities of medium strike drones and thus control the enemy’s rear logistics?

– Speaking about complete logistics destruction, as we understand well and historically, it is unrealistic to destroy the entire enemy. However, blocking it, halving the turnover of goods on a certain logistics highway, artery, should have a very large impact on the tactical depth.

For example, to destroy one weapon, you need to spend a lot of money. It is better to destroy three trucks delivering ammunition for that gun – it will be much more effective.

Therefore, we do not set the task to completely stop all logistics because the enemy thinks about countermeasures. But it is entirely possible to significantly reduce cargo flow – by 70 or 75 percent.

Speaking about gaps the enemy will try to exploit to carry out logistics, first of all, this is not a big secret. The enemy already knows about it, our aircraft can fly well in bad weather conditions, in strong wind and heavy rain, this is not a problem.

And we can also talk about this, in the last video we showed how to hunt enemy mobile fire groups. Our equipment works perfectly at night. This is not an obstacle.

We are increasing capabilities, increasing the number of crews and vehicles. We are also developing interesting technical solutions that will allow us to block logistics routes even better. So, I think you will see something very, very interesting in other videos that will have a direct and significant impact on enemy logistics.

Two days ago, “Azov” soldiers demonstrated how they destroy Russian forces’ targets on the Mariupol–Taganrog and Mariupol–Volnovakha roads.

“Azov” patrols the border zone around Mariupol… Pilots of the 1st National Guard Corps “Azov” are already carrying out tasks related to target destruction near the Russian border. The video shows military actions on the Mariupol–Taganrog and Mariupol–Volnovakha highways,” the report says.

“Azov” soldiers emphasized that Ukrainian territory must be free

from the Russian army, and the most reliable way to achieve this is to move the “sanitary zone” of enemy logistics closer to Russia itself and occupied Crimea.

On April 16, “Azov” soldiers stated that they took control of all Russian logistics routes near occupied Donetsk and will henceforth destroy all targets moving along these routes.

On May 8, “Azov” pilots demonstrated the operation of reconnaissance and strike complexes in Mariupol and announced that they patrol roads up to 160 km from the combat line.

Last week, the Russian-appointed head of the occupied Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo, ordered to restrict traffic on the so-called “Novorossiya” road, which runs along the Sea of Azov and is actively attacked by Ukrainian drones.

“It will no longer be safe for the occupiers in the Azov region,” the “Azov” soldiers emphasized in a message published on Monday.
