One of the strangest beaches in the world: unbelievable how seawater reaches it

As reported by „Blick“, this mini beach was formed by the collapse of a limestone cave. This created a depression in the ground, into which seawater flows today. What is special is that Playa de Gulpiyuri is not directly on the coast, but more than 100 meters from the sea.

Although the beach is not directly by the sea, its water still reaches it. During high tide, water flows through a natural underground tunnel to the beach. This tunnel was formed over a long time by salty water acting on the limestone.

Thus, crystal-clear water reaches the hidden beach and even creates small waves. During high tide, the depression fills with water, and during low tide, the beach almost completely dries out.

Many visitors are also surprised by the water temperature. It is often cooler than directly on the coast because the seawater spends some time underground while traveling to the beach.

Accessible only on foot

To visit this small natural beach, it is most convenient to travel from the parking lot near the San Antolín beach. From there, it takes about 15 minutes on foot. There is no direct train or bus connection to Playa de Gulpiyuri.

Due to its small size, the beach quickly fills with people. Therefore, to experience this special place more peacefully, it is worth arriving early in the morning or planning a visit outside the season.

Because of its hidden location, the seawater flowing through the underground tunnel, and its mere 40 meters length, Playa de Gulpiyuri is an unusual natural phenomenon and beach, distinctly different from classic seaside spots.
