“Usually, during the warm season, most damage is caused by squall winds driven by convection. Such winds typically cover a small area of Lithuania. Meanwhile, the storm on August 22 was caused by a deep southern cyclone and gradient winds, and this type of wind is much more typical for the cold season,” writes meteo.lt.
During this storm, new summer wind speed records were reached at five meteorological stations: Dotnuva 22.8 m/s, Lazdijai 24.3 m/s (squall), Rokiškis 25.2 m/s (squall), Ventė 33.1 m/s (catastrophic), and Vėžaičiai 22.7 m/s.

According to available wind data since 1970, the storm on August 22, 2026, was the only summer storm when dangerous and stronger winds were recorded at all meteorological stations measuring wind parameters.
Until now, strong winds during summer were recorded in most parts of the country:
On 1994-06-23, dangerous winds were recorded at 17 of the 18 meteorological stations measuring winds at that time, with a maximum wind speed of 22 m/s recorded in Klaipėda;
