Marking this beautiful occasion, the museum shared not only archival photos of the Adamkus wedding but also a touching, time-tested text from Valdas Adamkus’s diary dated September 1, 1971.
The published entry from Valdas Adamkus’s diary, which mentions his beloved Alma, perfectly illustrates their endless love.

“The day in Chicago passed without major events. After work to Farma. Today is an extraordinary day – 20th wedding anniversary! Words cannot express or describe those days and happy hours. I hope that I was able to return at least a small part of the happiness Alma gave me over all those years,” wrote V. Adamkus.
Sharing these heartwarming memories, the President Valdas Adamkus Library-Museum ended the post with a beautiful and close wish for all Lithuanians: “Health and strength to you, President!”
We remind that Alma Adamkienė passed away on May 21, 2023, in Vilnius, at the age of 97. She was laid to eternal rest at Petrašiūnai Cemetery in Kaunas.
