At the age of 50, after a serious illness, former Lithuanian national team footballer Artūras Fomenka passed away.

Three-time national champion (1993, 1997, 1998) and three-time LFF Cup winner (1994, 1996, 1999), before moving abroad, he played in Lithuania for Panevėžys “Ekranas” (1993–1995) and Šiauliai “Kareda” (1996–1999) teams.
His legionnaire path wound through clubs in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

In the Lithuanian national team, A. Fomenka played 23 matches, scoring 7 goals.
The forward played for the national team from 1996 to 2003.
