Construction of the airport, valued at £26.9 billion (approximately €31.5 billion), is already underway. Upon completion, it will have five runways and will be able to handle 360 flights per hour (200 departures and 160 arrivals).
According to Khaleej Times, the current situation in the Middle East has not affected the project.

In an interview, Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths also stated that construction work has not slowed down due to tensions in the Middle East.
