On the morning of Thursday, August 27, just before 7 a.m. local time, engineers at Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) found the body of an unidentified man in the aircraft’s landing gear compartment, reports the Malaysian newspaper “The Star”.

According to the report, the employee inspecting the landing gear compartment noticed the body about 30 minutes after the plane landed. The workers detected a strong unpleasant odor coming from the compartment.
It is reported that the deceased man was lying face down in the landing gear compartment on the right side of the aircraft, writes “People”.
It is reported that the man may have been dead for more than 72 hours.
Deputy Chief Commissioner of KLIA Police District Ravi Munusamy confirmed to the publication that the police received an initial report about the incident from the Airport Operations Control Center at around 7 a.m. Forensic experts were later dispatched to the scene.
Preliminary data indicate the man was between 17 and 25 years old. He was wearing a white hoodie with the word “Oakley” on the front and a dragon image on the back. He was also wearing blue jeans, a brown leather belt, socks, and black sneakers.
However, no identification documents were found on the man.
The body was taken to the forensic department of Serdang Hospital. Specialists will have to determine the man’s identity and cause of death. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the KLIA police station.

The aircraft landing gear compartment is a closed space in the lower part of the aircraft where the landing gear retracts during flight. Such places sometimes become hiding spots for people trying to board the plane illegally.
However, this mode of travel is extremely dangerous. A person in the landing gear compartment during flight may suffer from oxygen deprivation, hypothermia, and there is a risk of falling out of the aircraft.
A similar case – in the United Kingdom
This is not the first similar case recorded recently.
On June 16, at Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom, the body of an unidentified man was found in the landing gear of an “Air Arabia” plane. This was reported by BBC, “The Argus,” and “The Standard”.
An autopsy determined that the causes of death were cardiac arrest, hypoxia – lack of oxygen – and hypothermia.
Malaysian authorities are still investigating who the found man was and how he got into the aircraft’s landing gear compartment.
