„We are requesting more than 1 million euros (…). About 600 thousand for additional positions and another 500 thousand for the improvement works of „Liteko II“ itself,“ said the Chairwoman of the Supreme Court of Lithuania to BNS this week.

According to her, part of these funds would be directed to strengthening the National Courts Administration (NTA) information technology team by attracting qualified specialists who would ensure effective system management.
The remaining amount is intended for software improvement to stabilize the system and increase the efficiency of its functionalities.
At the Judges’ Council meeting held this week, NTA director Jurga Greičienė said that the ability to operate and plan activities regarding the functionality and further development of „Liteko“ directly depends on the allocated funding.
„Negotiations are underway and the justification of submitted needs as well as further discussion with both the Ministry of Finance and the Government Chancellery are taking place, aiming to secure consistent funding that would allow planning actions over a longer time horizon,“ she said.
About ongoing negotiations with the Ministry of Finance for additional funds for court employees, who face a heavier workload due to „Liteko II“ disruptions, as well as for strengthening system management competencies, technical maintenance, and further development, the Ministry of Justice also announced this week.
„We believe that we will find the necessary solutions by talking with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice, and the Government. And still, somehow the Government will find additional funds for our court system so that we can solve those key problems,“ said D. Bublienė.
„The Minister of Justice is certainly making every effort to increase funding for the courts and specifically in these directions: court staff funding and „Liteko II“,“ she assured.

„Liteko II“ has been experiencing disruptions since its launch at the beginning of June.
According to Minister of Justice Rita Tamašunienė, the system’s functioning is improving, but it does not operate as stably as it should.
This was also noted by D. Bublienė.
„The situation with „Liteko II“ is improving. We continue stabilization work but also think ahead about how to make the system more efficient, and for that, additional funds are needed, which we are already requesting for next year,“ said the Chairwoman of the Judges’ Council.
According to the NTA director, progress was made over the summer, with significantly fewer incidents recorded.
Since June 1, a total of 169 highest priority and 141 high priority incidents have been registered. Of these 310 incidents, 257 have already been resolved and implemented or are still awaiting verification and implementation.
„This weekend, an implementation is also planned, which should lead to significant changes in functionalities,“ assured J. Greičienė.
R. Tamašunienė told BNS that an important milestone by which the most significant disruptions affecting the system and court work must be eliminated is September 1. On the other hand, she emphasizes that stabilizing „Liteko II“ is not a one-day process, so remaining problems will have to be addressed after this date.
The system was developed by the company „Proit“, which was later included in the list of unreliable suppliers due to circumstances related to the update of the Social Support for Families information system. Currently, the system’s operation is supervised by the company „Novian Pro“.
