The Tourism Month will begin with an invitation to get to know the history of Neringa more deeply. From September 1 to 17, Neringa museums will hold free tours upon purchasing a museum visitor ticket. Tours will take place at the Writer Thomas Mann Memorial Museum, the Nida Fisherman’s Ethnographic Homestead, and the Curonian Spit History Museum. Throughout September, there will also be other thematic tours inviting visitors to discover not only well-known facts about the history of the Curonian Spit but also lesser-known stories about places, people, and buildings.
A distinctive cultural tourism direction will be complemented from September 3 to 6 by the 19th folklore festival “Blow, Wind!” in Juodkrantė, dedicated this year to the 250th anniversary of Martynas Liudvikas Rėza’s birth.
From September 9 to 17, Juodkrantė will also become an open creative space – hosting the plein air art event “Curonian Spit Architectural Heritage and Nature Harmony,” bringing together artists from different Lithuanian national parks. Painters and photographers will also spread out to other Neringa settlements.
For those wanting to actively explore the landscape of Neringa, on September 12 there will be about a 70-kilometer bike ride with the chairman of the Lithuanian Cyclists’ Association, Paulius Bakučys. Participants traveling the Nida–Juodkrantė–Nida route will visit the Cormorant Colony, the Dead Dunes, Bulvikis Cape, Vecekrugas Dune, and other places of the Curonian Spit.
On September 12, a different perspective on Neringa will be offered by the aviation sports festival “AeroNida 2026.” The festival program includes impressive acrobatic and parachutist performances, aviation shows, sightseeing flights, and in the evening – live music concerts and an aviation program at dusk.
The spectrum of unique experiences will also be enriched by the festival “Hello, Neringa!” on September 19, the line dance festival “Golden Nida Autumn 2026,” and on September 22 – the Autumn Equinox celebration.

During the World Tourism Day weekend, September 25–27, smaller activities dedicated to specific hobbies will also be available. Families with children will be invited to the “Dune Adventure,” a tour about the creative and European legacy of the Nobel Prize laureate will be held at the Writer Thomas Mann Memorial Museum, the Mizgiriai Amber Museum will invite visitors to an interactive amber presentation, and the Nida Orienteering Sports Park will host the game “(Not) Lost in Nida.”
On September 26, sports enthusiasts will gather for the International Nida Half Marathon run.
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, a discount will traditionally be applied to those arriving in Neringa by passenger cars. Persons traveling to Neringa from 12:00 on September 25 to 12:00 on September 26 will be exempt from the local entrance fee.
As a farewell to summer, the traditional election of the most hospitable tourism business in Neringa this year will also take place – the winners will be announced on September 17 during the event “Mayor’s Breakfast with Business.”
In September, Neringa reminds that a trip to the Curonian Spit can start from very different interests – architecture, literature, nature, sports, aviation, history, or gastronomy. It is precisely the smaller, authentic, and hobby-specific experiences that allow you to get to know Neringa more closely.
