“The largest portion of funds – almost 4.6 million euros – is allocated in 2026 to continue the reconstruction and expansion works of the Kretinga nursery-kindergarten ‘Pasaka’ preschool department ‘Eglutė’ building in Padvariai, as well as to purchase new furniture and inventory,” said Antanas Kalnius, mayor of Kretinga district.
Much attention is also given to the outdoor sports infrastructure of educational institutions. More than 1 million euros is planned to be used in 2026 for the maintenance of stadiums adjacent to educational institutions. Students of Salantai Gymnasium can already train at the renovated stadium, and reconstruction works will begin in the autumn at the Vydmantai Gymnasium stadium.
“Significant investments are also allocated to improve student catering conditions. After Darbėnai Gymnasium successfully started independent catering last year, this year three more district schools will switch to it – Salantai Gymnasium, Kretinga Marijonas Daujotas and Simonas Daukantas progymnasiums. They have been allocated 460 thousand euros to purchase kitchen equipment and furniture and to renovate premises,” said A. Kalnius.
One million euros is allocated annually for repair works in educational institutions – for classrooms, heating, water supply and domestic sewage, electrical installation systems, outdoor infrastructure maintenance, and more.

Investments are also made in updating transport for educational institutions. A school minibus was purchased for M. Daujotas Progymnasium for 89 thousand euros, and a 9-seat bus for 39 thousand euros for the Klaipėda E. Galvanauskas Vocational Training Center Kretinga branch.
The technical project for the facade, roof, outdoor environment, and engineering networks of the Kretinga nursery-kindergarten ‘Žilvitis’ building has already been prepared, with 60 thousand euros allocated for its preparation works. A procurement competition for construction works will be announced soon.
Another 55 thousand euros is allocated in 2026 to update computer equipment in educational institutions.
