The 39-year-old American will assist the newly appointed head coach Anton Gavel.
Officially, T. Rice’s position is player development director.
He returned to Munich after a 13-year break. In the 2012-2013 season, T. Rice represented Bayern and averaged 15.8 points in the German league.

The American moved to the Bavarian club from the then Vilnius “Lietuvos rytas,” where he spent the 2011-2012 season.
Successful play in Munich allowed T. Rice to move to Tel Aviv’s Maccabi, where the point guard achieved the greatest success of his career – he became the 2013-2014 EuroLeague champion and received the Final Four MVP award.
Later, T. Rice also represented Moscow Region’s Khimki, Barcelona, and Athens’ Panathinaikos teams and played a total of 112 games in the EuroLeague, averaging 11.2 points and 4.2 assists per game.
After ending his career in 2020, the American returned home and worked as a skills coach in Houston.

It’s nice to know that Thorsten (Leibenath, Bayern’s sports director – ed.) and Anton believe I can help guide Munich Bayern’s future in a positive direction. It’s wonderful to return to where I was valued as a player,” said the basketball player.
We remind you that the Lithuanian point guard Rokas Jokubaitis also represents the Bayern club. He missed the entire last season due to injury but should return to the lineup from the very start of the new season.
