The Ukrainian State Penitentiary Service officially denied this information, and the Anti-Disinformation Center operating under the National Security and Defense Council called it deliberately spread falsehood.
According to the Center, the information spreading on social networks and in some media does not correspond to reality – the Ukrainian State Penitentiary Service officially confirmed that not a single convict, prisoner, or prisoner of war has escaped from institutions belonging to its system.
The Center also warned that such news during wartime deliberately stirs public anxiety and creates artificial resonance, urging reliance only on official sources of information.

“The information published in the media about alleged prisoners of war escaping from a correctional facility in the Kharkiv region does not correspond to reality,” the service stated.

The institution urged the media and social network account administrators “not to spread unverified information,” emphasizing that such reports “cause great public resonance and anxiety” during wartime.
The service also noted that penitentiary system employees continue to ensure public order in correctional facilities, including those near the front line.
