„We know very well that Ukraine must win, because only your victory will bring peace and tranquility to all of Europe. Therefore, we will continue to support Ukraine. We will not recognize the occupation of Ukraine’s territories. We will increase pressure on the aggressor state and its accomplices,“ said the president.

The head of state assured that after the war ends, Lithuania will help rebuild destroyed schools, hospitals, and power plants.
He will also continue to support Ukraine’s aspiration to join the EU and NATO.
„I believe that very soon we will be able to celebrate the victory over darkness together. A victory that will be not only Ukraine’s but all of free Europe’s,“ said G. Nausėda.
He emphasized that the daily example of sacrifice shown by Ukrainians is especially dear to the people of Lithuania.
The solemn celebration of Ukraine’s Flag Day was also attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other leaders from the Nordic and Baltic countries.
Over the next two days, G. Nausėda will also participate in events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence and in the Coalition of the Willing meeting, where he will speak with V. Zelensky.
The president is visiting Kyiv amid Russia’s recent intensification of bombings of Ukrainian cities. The United Nations reports that in 2026 the number of civilian casualties reached the highest level since the beginning of the war.
Due to intense Russian attacks, Ukraine is currently facing a shortage of air defense system ammunition.
Kyiv is urging allies to help strengthen air defense. The country especially feels the shortage of “Patriot” interceptors, as these systems were redirected elsewhere after the United States began a war with Iran in February.
As informed by the Presidential Office, the First Lady Diana Nausėdienė will have a separate program during the visit, dedicated to public resilience and the consequences of war.
The Lithuanian First Lady will participate in the VI meeting of First Ladies and Gentlemen “World 2026: Searching for Stability in Times of Uncertainty,” organized by the Ukrainian First Lady.
