Menstrual pain can be so intense that, according to the doctor, women often even request a sick leave certificate. Abdominal or back pain is often accompanied by general weakness, drowsiness, nausea and vomiting, headache, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. In such a condition, it is difficult not only to engage in professional activities but also to perform daily tasks. About 15–20 percent of women suffering from this disease experience severe forms of dysmenorrhea.
