Polish firefighters reported difficult weather conditions on Saturday. According to them, rescue operations are underway across the country, which is being affected by an active atmospheric front.

“Firefighters across the country are fighting the effects of the atmospheric front moving across Poland. Since midnight, more than 2,000 interventions have been carried out related to removing fallen trees, protecting damaged roofs, and pumping water from flooded streets and buildings,” the firefighters’ statement said.
Scout camps evacuated
Due to the approaching storm, services have proactively evacuated 12 scout camps. According to K. Kroc, their participants and staff were moved to permanent buildings. No reports of injured people have been received so far.
By midnight, eight camps had been evacuated: one in Lower Silesia, two each in Mazovia, Greater Poland, and Warmia-Masuria voivodeships, and one in Lesser Poland. After midnight, four more camps were evacuated in the Łódź voivodeship.
In this region, firefighters mostly dealt with removing fallen trees and broken branches. They also had to pump water, but according to the local crisis management center, the strong wind did not tear off any roofs.
Nevertheless, the storm severely disrupted electricity supply. About 19,400 households in the Łódź voivodeship were left without power. Most of them were in the Tomaszów Mazowiecki area – about 5,500, the Zgierz district – 4,400, and the Piotrków Trybunalski area – about 3,200.

Flood warnings issued
The Polish Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued warnings on Saturday for thunderstorms in the southwest of the country and strong winds in the Podlaskie, Mazovia, Łódź, and Warmia-Masuria voivodeships. Strong winds were also recorded in the Pomerania, Świętokrzyskie, and Lublin regions.
The Government Security Center issued storm warnings for 15 voivodeships. The highest, third-level meteorological warning is in effect in the southern part of Lower Silesia. A second-level hydrological warning has also been issued for this region due to the possible sudden rise in water levels.
As reported by the news portal wyborcza.pl Particularly heavy rainfall fell in the Karkonosze Mountains. At the Mała Kopa meteorological station, up to about 2 a.m., 100.8 mm of precipitation had fallen, and the rain was still ongoing at that time.
Meteorologists warned that the risk of local floods, inundations, and sudden river water level rises is increasing in the region. The water level in the Pełcznica River near Świebodzice had already exceeded the warning threshold.
Services urge residents to remain cautious, avoid parking cars under trees, stay away from parks and wooded areas, and follow warnings from local authorities and meteorologists.
