According to him, the search and rescue operation and the subsequent transport of the bodies are complicated by the high altitude and unstable weather conditions.
We remind that three climbers – Belarusian Maksim Polianski, 43, Nikolai Sviridov, 60, and Lithuanian citizen Sergejus Rubcovas, 37 – were climbing the Korumdy peak on the Northern ridge route of the Pamir mountain range. The last contact with them was on August 4.
According to the brother of the deceased Lithuanian citizen, Arturas Rubcovas, at that time the climbers were at about 6,000 meters altitude. They reported that they were already descending and should reach the place where transport awaited them in two days. However, no news was received from the climbers since then. A search was organized.
Later, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that rescuers found an empty tent belonging to the missing group.
On August 16, while inspecting the area with a drone, climbers’ boots were found. The footage showed boots with ice “crampons.” However, no people were visible in the video, almost everything was covered by snow and rocks.

Still, there are no doubts at the moment. This is also confirmed by the organizers who have been constantly informing about the search on the specially created website Kurumdy.by.

The review of materials continues, and the collected data and calculations form the basis for preparing the descent operation. It requires separate preparation. The location is in a zone where rocks and snow fall, and the safety of rescuers is a necessary condition.
