Singapore has once again taken first place in the global “Henley Passport Index” ranking, which evaluates passports based on how many countries their holders can visit without a prior visa. This number also includes countries where a tourist visa can be issued upon arrival, but no official visa application is required before travel.

Currently, holders of a Singapore passport can travel to 192 countries without the need to apply for a visa in advance. This is four countries more than the second place shared by Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates – their passports provide access to 188 countries.
The United Kingdom still has room for improvement. It shared sixth place with Poland and Hungary, having visa-free access to 184 countries. However, since the beginning of the year, the UK has risen in the ranking after securing visa-free access to China and Malawi.

The “Henley Passport Index” was first introduced in 2006. At that time, Singapore was in eighth place. Since then, the country has steadily climbed the ranking and has held the top position for several years.
The index evaluates 199 different passports and 227 travel destinations, including the list of United Nations member states, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macau Special Administrative Region, and Taiwan. The latter are listed separately from China, as they provide different entry rights.
Meanwhile, Lithuania ranked 9th on the list.
