The Norwegian Air Traffic Controllers Association has planned a 12-day strike of air traffic controllers at the two main airports in the country – Oslo and Bergen.

Mediation efforts to resolve the dispute continued until late at night, but no agreement was reached.
The strike, set to begin on Friday at 11 a.m. local time (12 p.m. Lithuanian time), is expected to cause delays in Oslo and Bergen in the afternoon and evening, which will also affect the rest of the country, warned the air transport operator “Avinor”.
Delays are also expected over the weekend, and Oslo Airport is planned to be completely closed to air traffic on Sunday morning.

According to the trade union, the negotiations addressed issues related to break times and the regulations governing the work of air traffic controllers.
“It is incomprehensible that the Norwegian Air Traffic Controllers Association is now starting a strike that will unjustifiably punish passengers and disrupt air traffic,” said the employers’ organization “Spekter”.
“Spekter” stated that it offered an average annual salary increase of 62,000 kroner (about 5,700 euros), which the trade union reportedly rejected.
