Another long-time player returns to the "Žalgiris" system

In the upcoming 2026–2027 season, the „Žalgiris-2“ team will be led by head coach Kasparas Vecvagaras, assisted by Martynas Gailiūnas and T.Klimavičius. The team’s physical training coach will be Rokas Galvanauskas, the physiotherapist – Tomas Lesutis, and Andrius Gopenas will continue to serve as the team manager.

M.Gailiūnas will also continue his work as the head coach of „Žalgiris-3“.

Meanwhile, the newest addition to the coaching staff, Kaunas native T.Klimavičius, debuted in the „Žalgiris“ men’s team back in 2002, having previously played in the youth team. The tall player spent 7 seasons with the Kaunas team with breaks, winning 4 Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) championship rings.

In 2010, T.Klimavičius won a bronze medal at the World Cup with the Lithuanian men’s basketball team.

During his career, the former basketball player has played for clubs in Lithuania, Italy, Greece, and Germany. The last stop in his career was the Kaunas district „Omega“ club (2018–2023), which played in the Regional Basketball League (RKL).
