“Utena district, Politiškiai village, two fighter jets have been circling for half an hour,” wrote one reader.
“The fighter jets over the farm Tauragnų šilauogės have already made three circles and are still flying around the area,” reported another reader.
In Šiauliai, NATO air policing mission is currently carried out by Italian soldiers with Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets.
These are exercises
The Lithuanian Armed Forces informed 15min that the Lithuanian Armed Forces Air Force is conducting planned exercises in the Ignalina and Utena districts.
They involve Italian Air Force fighter jets and an unmanned aerial vehicle participating in the NATO air policing mission in the Baltic States.
“During the training, residents may see allied fighter jets flying lower and hear aircraft sounds related to the ongoing activity. The Police Department and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre have been informed about the activity,” said the military.
“The exercises are scheduled until 6:00 PM. More detailed information about their progress and tasks being performed is not published,” it added.
