The end of Eros: Pirožnikas lost the sauna in Palanga, the mayor's brother will settle on the coast of Šventoji

The fact that he had to move out this season was confirmed by J. Pirožnikas himself to 15min.

“Why are you asking me if you already know? I myself did not participate in the competition. We didn’t want to. Just like that. There was no agreement. I didn’t participate, but my wife did, she didn’t win – and that’s it (…). I have already sold that sauna,” J. Pirožnikas stated.

He says he does not know who outbid him in the competition, but he heard that the winners offered the municipality impressive sums both for his usual spot near the lifeguard station and another one on Kontininkų Street.

“In one place they won for more than 21 thousand euros, in another – for 31 thousand euros. They pay the municipality for the spot to be allowed to trade,” J. Pirožnikas explained.

In total, the municipality announced competitions for two spots in Palanga and two in Šventoji. J. Pirožnikas says he only participated in one, near the lifeguard station. Entrepreneurs will operate the saunas for five years.

“But logically calculate, you would need to collect 21 thousand euros if the sauna does not earn even half of that money in three months. So what are we talking about?” he pondered.

15min has reported on J. Pirožnikas’s connections with some former criminal world figures, businessmen, politicians, or officials. His sauna was mentioned as an important meeting place. J. Pirožnikas himself admitted at the end of 2022 to having a wide circle of acquaintances, also mentioning this sauna specifically.

Now he says that the role of socializing various people will be taken over by other entrepreneurs, while he will continue to maintain another business in Palanga – a jet ski club at least until the end of 2028.

“But I will gladly hand over both and also help. I am already retired, I need to rest,” J. Pirožnikas assured.

The mentioned water sport in Palanga is also favored by the “Aušriečiai” leaders Remigijus Žemaitaitis, Robertas Puchovičius, as well as their acquaintance, former member of the “Agurkiniai” group Aurelijus Perminas, nicknamed Šūdmaišis, who visited here this weekend.

J. Pirožnikas says he hasn’t seen them for a long time. And he does not make much of the loss regarding the sauna.

“That’s good, there will be another place to meet. What difference does it make? It’s a public place. People meet in stores, restaurants too,” the head of Palanga lifeguards said.

15min also interviewed the entrepreneurs who will take over this tradition from J. Pirožnikas and asked why they are willing to pay, according to J. Pirožnikas, unrealistic sums to the municipality. However, the sauna will be located in a slightly different place.

15min also found out that the mayor Š. Vaitkus’s brother Bronius Vaitkus will set up his own sauna on the beach in Šventoji near Monciškės.
