In the first days of service, new soldiers will become familiar with the internal regulations of the military unit, the principles of service organization, and daily activities. They will be provided with the necessary equipment, meet their direct commanders, get acquainted with the service schedule, and begin the adaptation and initial training phase.
The service will be conducted according to the training programs approved by the Lithuanian Armed Forces. During the first three months, soldiers will participate in a basic soldier course, during which they will acquire fundamental military knowledge and practical skills. During training, they will learn the basics of tactics, weapon handling, topography, first aid, communication procedures, and other disciplines essential for a soldier.
After successfully completing the basic training, soldiers will be assigned to specific positions in the King Mindaugas Hussar Battalion. There, they will further deepen their professional knowledge, improve practical skills, and learn to carry out tasks both individually and as part of a team.
During the nine-month service period, young people will not only gain military training but also develop discipline, responsibility, leadership qualities, initiative, and the ability to work in a team. These competencies are valuable both in military service and civilian life.

The King Mindaugas Hussar Battalion belongs to the Lithuanian Armed Forces Land Forces Infantry Brigade “Iron Wolf.” The battalion’s soldiers are trained to carry out state defense tasks and operate together with other Lithuanian and NATO allied military units.
After completing the mandatory initial military service, soldiers will be able to choose to continue service in professional military service, study at the General Jonas Žemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy, or join the Lithuanian Armed Forces active reserve. Active reserve soldiers are periodically called to refresh their military knowledge and practical skills to remain prepared to carry out state defense tasks.
