At the semifinals, K. Teterevkova and R. Giliazova both finished in 30.55 seconds in different heats on Saturday, sharing 9th-10th places. These positions are important for determining the first reserve finalist, so the swimmers had to jump back into the pool late in the evening for a direct duel between the two of them.

However, in the swim-off, the athletes recorded identical times – 30.43 seconds. This meant that on Sunday, after all the scheduled morning session races, K. Teterevkova and R. Giliazova would face each other once again.
This time, unfortunately, K. Teterevkova’s opponent was superior, completing the distance in 30.41 seconds. The Lithuanian athlete was 0.17 seconds behind.
The women’s 50 m swimming final is scheduled for today at 19:35, and Rūta Meilutytė will compete for a medal.
