At the beginning of the race, the Lithuanian gave way to the leaders and was not among the frontrunners.
With 100 m to the end of the event, the medalists were already clear. G. Galvydytė, who had been running in the middle of the group for a long time, made an excellent sprint on the outer part of the track and overtook her rivals.
The runner completed the distance in 1 min. 59.12 sec. and took fourth place. She overtook her closest rival, Briton Jemma Reekie, by just 0.03 sec.
- We remind you that in the semifinal, just before the final straight in the 800-meter event, the star of this event Audrey Werro fell under the Lithuanian’s feet, and G. Galvydytė simply found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and fell painfully together.
- Immediately after the event, a protest was filed, after which the Lithuanian received a ticket to the final.
The first place was won by the Swiss Audrey Werro, who led the entire race. Her time was 1 min. 54.81 sec.

Throughout the race, she was closely pursued by Briton Keely Hodgkinson. The 2024 Olympic champion finished this time in 1 min. 55.01 sec.
The bronze was won by Dutch representative Femke Broeders-Bol. She crossed the finish line in 1 min. 55.54 sec.
G. Galvydytė’s next race will take place on August 15. At 14:15, she will participate in the 1500 m qualifying race.
