Over the year, the employment rate in this age group has slightly increased. The data also shows a rise in employment levels among youth, older people, and a significant increase in the number of people working additional jobs. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate in Latvia in the second quarter was 7 percent.

Over the year, the overall employment rate in the 15–74 age group increased by 0.2 percentage points, while the number of employed people decreased by 3,800. Meanwhile, in the 20–64 age group, 815,800 people were employed, or 78.6%, and the employment rate, compared to the second quarter of last year, decreased by 0.3 percentage points, with the number of employed people decreasing by 12,900.
Compared to the first quarter, in the second quarter of this year, the employment rate of Latvian residents aged 15–74 increased by 1.3 percentage points, and the number of employed people increased by 14,300. Meanwhile, in the 20–64 age group, the employment rate increased by 1.3 percentage points, and the number of employed people increased by 9,400.
The employment rate of older people also increased in the second quarter (by 2.6 percentage points over the year) and reached 27.6%.
The employment rate for men (66.1%) was 1.9 percentage points higher than for women (64.2%). In the 20–64 age group, the employment rate for men (78.3%) was 0.6 percentage points lower than for women (78.8%).
The employment rate for the 15–24 age group was 33.2%, i.e., 1.4 percentage points higher than a year ago and 1.6 percentage points higher than the previous quarter. In this age group, 62,700 young people were employed, compared to 59,500 a year ago.
In the second quarter, 16.8% or 127,200 employees regularly worked remotely. This is 26,200, or 3.4 percentage points, more than a year ago (101,000, or 13.4%), and 11,700, or 1.4 percentage points, more than the previous quarter, when 115,500, or 15.4%, regularly worked remotely.
Among those working remotely, the most common model is hybrid work – 42.1% work remotely one or two days per week. Meanwhile, 16.1% of people work fully remotely.
