The General Staff of Ukraine stated that the “Orsknefteorgsintez” plant, located more than 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine, in Russia’s Orenburg region, was attacked on August 11. The plant’s annual crude oil processing capacity is about 6 million tons.

The governor of the Orenburg region, Yevgeny Solntsev, reported on social media that the Ukrainian attack damaged “critical infrastructure that is currently impossible to restore.”
“The equipment is imported, and due to sanctions, repairs may take up to six months. The plant is completely shut down,” added Y. Solntsev.
Ukraine is conducting an increasingly successful long-range strike campaign against Russia’s oil infrastructure – attacking oil storage facilities, disrupting production at large sites, and in some cases, halting their operations indefinitely.
Ukraine’s strikes on oil refineries are putting pressure on the Kremlin, intensifying the domestic fuel supply crisis, which has already caused export bans, price surges, and sales restrictions across Russia.
“We are preparing for the worst-case scenario. We will have to rely on imported fuel. Logistics is already being reorganized. Out of 287 gas stations, 80% are operational,” Y. Solntsev said about the impact of the strike on the plant.
On the night of August 13, Kyiv forces continued a wave of attacks against Russia’s oil infrastructure, striking the “Gazprom Neftechim Salavat” oil refinery complex in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia.
