According to officials, the explosion at the largest European port thundered late Thursday morning, and the crime scene was cordoned off to determine its causes.
Rotterdam rescue services reported a major power outage at the port and indicated that a transformer caught fire under unclear circumstances.
After a few hours, power supply to companies in the port’s industrial zone was gradually restored.
Several oil and gas companies are located in this zone, so fire brigades were on standby nearby, ready to respond.
