“Student holidays have one peculiarity – many families want to travel on the same days. A couple can still shift the trip by a few days, change the hotel or room type, but families with children have much less flexibility. Therefore, it is definitely not too late now, but this is already the time when it is worth starting to choose if you want not what is left, but what really suits the family,” says Brigita Kučinskaitė, an expert from the Travel Academy.

For those wanting warmth – Egypt, more activities – Tenerife
According to the expert, when choosing a destination, it is first worth thinking not about a specific country, but about what kind of holiday the family expects.
If the priority is warmth, swimming and as much time as possible by the pool or sea, one of the most practical destinations at the beginning of November remains Egypt. Here there is a wide selection of family-friendly hotels, many “all inclusive” options, water parks and other entertainment for children.
Turkey can also still be considered at the beginning of November, but it should be taken into account that the season is coming to an end and the weather is not as stable as in previous autumn months.
Meanwhile, Tenerife is more suitable for families who do not want to spend the entire holiday in the hotel. On the island, you can combine relaxation by the ocean with trips, nature, towns, and various entertainment for children.
“I would first ask the family not ‘which country do you want?’, but ‘how do you want to spend the week?’. For some, the most important thing is warm weather, a pool, and as little logistics as possible. Others want to rent a car, drive around, see something. The direction depends a lot on that. There is no one country that would be best for all families,” says B. Kučinskaitė.
How much to plan for the trip?
Currently, week-long leisure trips to warmer countries for November can be found for about 700–900 euros per person, but the final amount depends greatly on the chosen hotel, type of catering, length of the trip, and the age of the children.

The expert emphasizes that families need to evaluate not only the lowest visible price. A cheaper-looking hotel may mean longer transfers, additional expenses for food or entertainment, and the choice of family rooms is often limited.
“When traveling with children, the price per person does not always tell whether the offer is really good. You need to look at the total price for the whole family and what you get for it. Sometimes a slightly more expensive hotel with good catering, a heated pool, and a short transfer is ultimately both more comfortable and financially more rational for the family,” says the travel expert.
What to pay attention to when choosing a hotel in autumn?
B. Kučinskaitė recommends checking not only the number of stars of the hotel before booking a trip. In autumn, it is especially important to find out whether the pools are heated, whether the water park and other children’s entertainment will still be operating at the end of the season, what type of room is offered for the family, and how long the trip from the airport to the hotel will take.

The location itself is also important. In November, a difference of several dozen kilometers in the same country can mean different weather conditions, so it is worth considering not only the country but also the specific resort.
Is it worth waiting for the last minute?
According to the expert, last-minute offers do occur in autumn, but for the week of student holidays, it is not a strategy worth blindly relying on.
“If it is not important for the family where exactly to go, what the hotel will be like, and a decision can be made a few days before, waiting is possible. But if you already know now that you want to travel specifically during the children’s holidays, have a specific budget, and want a good hotel suitable for the family, I don’t see much point in risking. By the end of October, the question may no longer be ‘where do we want to go?’, but ‘where are there still places left?’,” says B. Kučinskaitė.
