It is reported that the Lakers club is being purchased by businessmen Josh Kushner and Bob Iger. According to ESPN, the deal is worth as much as 12.5 billion USD (almost 11 billion euros).

According to ESPN, J. Kushner and B. Iger considered acquiring an NBA club in Las Vegas if the league expansion project, which has been talked about for several years, were to be implemented. However, they ultimately offered an impressive sum to M. Walter.
The latter acquired the Lakers organization from the Buss family, who had managed it for many decades, last year when he paid about 10 billion dollars (about 8.7 billion euros).
Both of these deals are the largest not only in the NBA but also in all of North American professional sports.
The next largest amount for which an NBA team was sold is 6.1 billion dollars – the price of the Boston Celtics organization last year.

M. Walter, who sold the Lakers, holds shares in many other sports organizations – the football club Chelsea, the baseball team Los Angeles Dodgers, the women’s basketball team Los Angeles Sparks, the Formula 1 team Cadillac, and others. However, in this deal, the businessman transferred only the Lakers shares, ESPN reports.
41-year-old J. Kushner, who acquired the pride of Los Angeles, is the brother of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of Donald Trump. Recently, his name was prominently mentioned in the FIFA scandal when the organization’s president Gianni Infantino attempted to sell part of the company organizing the World Cup and other tournaments to J. Kushner and his partners, but after opposition from UEFA and other regional football organizations, G. Infantino had to back down.
J. Kushner also owns a small share of the Miami Heat club, which he will now have to sell in order to become the full owner of the Lakers.
75-year-old B. Iger stepped down from his position as CEO of Disney this year. He and his wife own the women’s football team Angel City FC.
