At the championships held in Paris (France), the Lithuanian was only behind the Dutch Marrit Steenbergen (1:56.35) and took second place in the first semifinal. This secured a direct ticket to the final.

In the overall semifinal standings, I. Jurkūnaitė was sixth. The best time was demonstrated by Czech Barbora Seemanova (1:55.77).
The daughter of former basketball player Andrius Jurkūnas swam in the morning in 1 min. 57.28 sec. and improved the national record set this year by Sylvia Statkevicius.
The final of this event is scheduled for Wednesday at 20:36 Lithuanian time.
The national record was also improved by Tomas Navikonis. The 23-year-old from Panevėžys swam 100 m freestyle in the final in 47.75 sec. and took 8th place.
T. Navikonis also improved the Lithuanian record yesterday when he recorded a time of 47.91 sec. in the semifinal and was sixth.
Previously, the Lithuanian record for this event (48.04 sec.), set in 2024 in Belgrade, belonged to Danas Rapšys.

The gold in the final was won by Romanian swimming star David Popovici, who also broke the championship record (46.56 sec.).
T. Navikonis will also participate in the 200 m freestyle event at this European championship, which will start on Thursday.
The third Lithuanian to jump into the pool in the evening program was Aleksas Savickas. In the first semifinal of the 200 meters breaststroke, he swam in 2 min. 10.90 sec. and was sixth.
A. Savickas swam 2 min. 11.21 sec. in the morning qualifying and was 13th overall.
A little later this evening we will see another Lithuanian start – at 20:26 Emilija Pociūtė will compete in the 50 m backstroke semifinal.
