Before starting his current duties, Š. Legatas worked in the Seimas Research Department.
The minister is also advised on migration issues by Ž. Kalpokas, who spent most of his professional career at the State Border Guard Service (VSAT).
M. Katelynas’ advisor on internal security issues will be Arūnas Puodys. He worked for a long time at the Varėna Police Commissariat, and later at VSAT.
A. Puodys ran as a candidate for municipal council elections in Varėna district in 2023 with the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party.
M. Katelynas himself was a member of the Varėna district municipal council.
The ministry will also employ deputy ministers Linas Drazdauskas, Ana Burkovskienė, and Vaidotas Jakštas, as well as chancellor Laimonas Rudys.
L. Drazdauskas will be responsible for the public security sector. According to the ministry, he began his professional career at the State Security Department and criminal police. For the past 25 years, he has been actively engaged in legal practice.

In turn, A. Burkovskienė’s area of supervision is civil protection and the protection of important state facilities.
According to the ministry, she has “accumulated many years of experience in international cooperation, public administration, and institutional management, and has also contributed to the implementation of strategic reforms in the national defense system.”
V. Jakštas will continue his work as deputy minister, overseeing issues related to the implementation of EU structural support and regional policy.
Chancellor L. Rudys, who has a legal education, previously served as chancellor of the 19th Government.
