The first to appear at the Birmingham stadium will be Juozas Baikštys. He will participate in the high jump qualification competition from 12:33. The Lithuanian will have 25 competitors. The final standard is 2.26 m. If not enough athletes meet this, the top 12 will compete in the final.

At 12:35, the men’s discus throw qualification competition will begin. Three Lithuanians will compete – one of the favorites Mykolas Alekna, former European champion Andrius Gudžius, and Martynas Alekna. The final standard is 66.00 m, but at least 12 discus throwers will also participate in the final.

At 13:22, Adas Dambrauskas will participate in the second 100 meters qualifying heat. There will be three heats in total, and 12 sprinters with the best times will advance to the semifinals held in the evening session.

At 14:29, Gabija Galvydytė will run in the fourth 800 m qualifying heat. The top three athletes from each qualifying heat will advance to the semifinals, along with four more runners with the best times.

Another Lithuanian will line up at the start in the evening session. This is Rugilė Miklyčiūtė, who will participate in the pole vault qualification competition from 21:05. The final standard is 4.55 m, and at least 12 athletes will compete in the final.

We remind you that three Lithuanian athletes competed on the first day of the competition.

In the triple jump qualification, Dovilė Kilty took 20th place, and Diana Zagainova took 27th place. A total of 29 jumpers competed. Four of our triple jumpers have participated in European championships throughout history. The highest place, twelfth, was achieved by D. Kilty in 2022. This was Dovilė’s fifth championship and Diana’s second.

23 runners started in the 5000 m final race. Simas Bertašius took 17th place. This was only the second Lithuanian start in this distance in European championships history. 55 years ago in Helsinki, Petras Šimonėlis took 10th place.
