“Acceptance should be resumed in the coming days. During the meeting, it was agreed and all parties agreed that the necessary decisions will be urgently renewed,” Giedrė Ričkutė told journalists after the meeting of the Lithuanian Regional Waste Management Centers Association, the Ministry of Finance, VKJ, Vilnius Municipality, and other institutions on Monday.

The deputy minister said that representatives of the state-owned energy group “Ignitis Group” and VKJ assured that by mid-September the amount of waste incineration will be increased to about 600 tons per day.

Currently, VKJ incinerates up to 450 tons per day.
According to the deputy minister, VKJ should prioritize waste from the Vilnius region, but this does not mean that the acceptance of waste from other regions should stop.
