As reported by Sky News, J. Bezos belongs to an investor group led by Amit Bhatia, son-in-law of Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, and which also includes one of Facebook’s founders Eduardo Saverin.

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) confirmed last month that the group led by A. Bhatia had approached them about acquiring a stake.
The investment consortium, led and represented by A. Bhatia, expressed interest in a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club,” said an FSG spokesperson.
A. Bhatia was until recently a shareholder in Championship league club Queens Park Rangers.
Sky reports that the consortium is “close to an agreement to acquire about a third of Liverpool’s shares,” and FSG is preparing to announce this “as early as this week.”

It is reported that J. Bezos had previously considered acquiring NFL teams Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders, but decided not to proceed with either deal.
According to Sky, the investment would increase the value of Liverpool club to 6 billion USD.
FSG, which also owns the baseball team Boston Red Sox, acquired Liverpool in 2010 for 300 million pounds sterling (405 million USD). In 2023, it sold a minority stake to the US private equity group Dynasty Equity.
