According to Petro Masiulis, Vice President and General Manager of the Tele2 Group for the Baltic countries, such international recognition confirms that the company’s strategy to invest in the real, fast deployment of 5G and consistent efforts to improve customer experience are yielding tangible results.

“What matters most to us is that fast and reliable connectivity works where customers need it. Therefore, we consistently improve the network, build new base stations, constantly update equipment, and increase network capacity. The Ookla rating shows that customers feel the decision to invest in fast 5G every day when using Tele2 5G internet on their phones and computers,” says P. Masiulis.
According to Ookla, the award is given based on a consistent and objective network performance evaluation methodology.

The most popular customer choice
According to the Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT), Tele2 is the most popular mobile operator in Lithuania by the number of active SIM cards. This shows that when choosing an operator, customers value connection quality, wide coverage, and affordable prices.
“The fact that most customers in Lithuania choose us is an important sign of trust. The Ookla rating shows that this choice is complemented by objectively measured 5G internet speed. We will continue to work to make high-quality connectivity easily accessible to as many people as possible,” says P. Masiulis.
Network – strong throughout Lithuania
Tele2 continuously invests in connection quality – just this year from January to June, 11.7 million euros were allocated for this. This is almost 15% more than at the same time last year.
In the first half of the year, Tele2 installed 16 new base stations, bringing the total number to over 1600. The company’s 5G network is available to 90%, and 4G to 99.99% of Lithuania’s population.
The operator is also strengthening mobile connectivity along the Via Baltica road, where 8 new base stations are planned. They will become part of the shared Tele2 network, so better connectivity should be felt not only by those traveling the transport corridor but also by residents and businesses in surrounding areas.
The operator deploys 5G and 4G connectivity together with partner Nokia – installing the latest equipment from this manufacturer throughout the network.
This year, Tele2 acquired additional frequencies that will allow further strengthening of the 5G network, increasing its capacity, and improving connectivity availability in different parts of Lithuania.
“Every new station, updated equipment, or additional frequency ultimately means very simple things for the customer – a more stable video call, faster loading content, or more reliable home internet. Our goal is for technological progress to be felt in people’s daily lives,” says P. Masiulis.
