Dileta Meškaite, who has withdrawn from the public eye – unexpected and joyful news

„We created this song together with Aurimas. We both immediately felt its mood and understood its language. When we both feel the same thing in the creative process, everything moves quite naturally. Of course, then the long part begins – polishing and trying to understand if it’s really finished.“

The performer does not hide that what fascinates her most is not the final result, but the creative process itself.

„It seems like you are eagerly waiting for the song to be finished, and when it happens, you soon miss the creativity again. It’s some kind of enchanting circle. I don’t wait for inspiration – it only comes while doing.“

While writing the lyrics, Dileta kept returning to the thought that people often live as if they had infinite time.

„We always postpone something, don’t find time for something, wait for something. And then it turns out that not everything in life waits. Very often our life is determined not by fate, but by whether we say ‘yes’ at the right moment. You can’t choose who you will meet in life, but you can choose whether you will be where life is looking for you.“

Summer in the song becomes not a season, but a state.

„We wait for summer so much because we miss not the season itself, but who we are in summer. Lighter. Braver. More alive. But maybe the greatest happiness begins when you stop waiting? I thought that love is a state that stops time. We no longer wait for anything. Everything happens here and now, as if there were no tomorrow.“

The song’s title also raises the question of whether it is always necessary to have a clear direction in life.

„I thought: what if sometimes compasses mislead us? What if all our life searching for the perfect direction, we miss the life itself? Maybe sometimes it’s enough to listen to the heart and dive in.“

Along with the song, a music video filmed in Spain is also presented.

„Apparently, I like extremes. We filmed one video in Darsūniškis when it was 25 degrees below zero, and this one in Spain when the thermometer showed +37. I am extremely grateful to the whole team who believed in my idea and helped to realize it. And I want to thank the director Lukas Baranauskas separately – he is a true talent.“

Dileta says she did not want to create just another beautiful music video.

„I didn’t want a video where the singer just sings to the camera and shows how beautiful or talented she is. I wanted a short film story about two people who don’t postpone life. They understand that sometimes one lived day is more valuable than years spent waiting for the right moment. They don’t know what will happen tomorrow and don’t even want to know. They choose each other now, even if they have only one day.“

According to the performer, the value of a love story is not measured by its duration.

„What matters is not how many days it lasted, but how much life fit into those days. Or maybe even into one single day. Sometimes life gives an opportunity, and the biggest mistake would be not daring to accept it.“

However, „Kompasai“ is not only about romantic love.

„I would like us to love each other more often – to support, help, and not be afraid to be ourselves. Maybe we don’t always have to know where we are going. Sometimes it’s enough to know who we want to go with.“

Dileta’s latest creation „Kompasai“ invites us to stop searching for the perfect direction at least for a short while and just live. Because sometimes one said „yes“ and one truly lived day is enough to change the whole life.
