According to the publication, next week V. Putin is expected to visit Novosibirsk. This would be his fifth visit to the regions after a long break. Only one of these trips was to the European part of Russia.

The Kremlin has not officially announced this visit yet. However, according to sources, V. Putin’s agenda may include the opening of the SKIF science complex, a visit to the local university campus, and a meeting with the governor of the Novosibirsk region.
Avoiding areas reached by Ukrainian drones
Since June 2026, V. Putin has mostly been visiting Siberia and other remote Russian regions that Ukrainian drones have not yet reached or where attacks have been very rare.
Recently, he visited:
- July 24 in Irkutsk, where he inspected an aircraft factory;
- July 25 in Omsk, where he met with the President of Kazakhstan;
- August 3 in Krasnoyarsk Krai – this visit was not announced in advance.
The only exception in the European part of Russia was Kazan, where V. Putin participated in a pre-planned summit meeting.
During this visit, unprecedented security measures were taken – additional security forces were sent from other regions, electric scooters were banned, and mobile communication was disrupted in some places.
Exceptions also remain Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Valdai, where V. Putin’s main residences are located.
Before resuming trips to the regions, V. Putin rarely traveled outside these areas since November 2025.
According to sources cited by investigative journalists, the Russian president became much more concerned about his security after the drone attack on his residence in Valdai in December.
Preparing for a long war
At the same time, V. Putin is reportedly preparing for a long-term war with Ukraine.
It was previously reported that the Kremlin plans to continue the war for at least another three years and is actively looking for ways to finance it. As a result, Russia is reducing social spending and directing more funds to the defense budget.
Moreover, Russia is facing an increasing shortage of soldiers, so the authorities are looking for new ways to replenish the armed forces.
One such solution is the recent amendments signed by V. Putin, which narrowed the list of crimes that disqualify individuals from signing a military service contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. However, those convicted of pedophilia, extremism, or treason still cannot be accepted into military service.
