Dzūkų Street in Naujininkai starts just beyond the railway and is only a few minutes away from the capital’s Old Town. However, there are still apartment buildings here whose residents have to endure living conditions that you won’t find even in the most remote villages.
Water here is only available from a standpipe on the other side of the street. And the outdoor toilet dates back to the Soviet era – built then, it has remained unchanged.
No one hears the requests

“Naujininkai today is presented as one of the fastest-changing districts of Vilnius. New apartment buildings are rising here, residential quarters are being built, and investments are being made in infrastructure. But just a kilometer from Vilnius Old Town, there are still homes where people live without running water, sewage, toilets, or bathrooms.
