As reported by tvn24.pl, the night was especially restless in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. According to the Szczecin State Fire Service, they had to respond to more than 70 calls due to the effects of the storm.

The firefighters also report this on Facebook. It is stated that the firefighters had to remove fallen trees and branches that blocked roads and posed a danger to both residents and traffic participants.

Most calls were in the Goleniów district – about 30. They also had to work in the city of Szczecin itself.

However, the exceptional work this time was in the Łożnica area, Goleniów district, where a train with about 140 passengers ran over a fallen tree that damaged the contact network.

The accident happened on Wednesday around 11 p.m. local time. The train was heading to Szczecin.

“When the railway technical service finished their work, the firefighters removed the tree lying on the tracks, provided passengers with water, and helped them safely transfer to the arriving replacement train,” the statement says.

Thursday in Poland is also hot and stormy.

As reported, at 1:30 p.m. Polish time (2:30 p.m. Lithuanian time), thunderstorms struck in separate districts of Pomerania, Warmia-Masuria, West Pomerania, Greater Poland, and Lesser Poland.

The thunderstorm was accompanied by heavy and abundant rainfall, locally up to 40 liters per square meter, as well as wind gusts up to 20-22 m/s and hail.

“Storms are moving northwest, and new storm clouds with dangerous phenomena are expected in the coming hours,” warns tvn24.pl.
