Scottish police stated in their report that they “received reports of several missing athletes” and that they are conducting an investigation and cooperating with the Home Office.

About 3,000 athletes from 74 countries competed in the 2026 Commonwealth Games, which took place in Scotland’s largest city, with the closing ceremony held on Sunday.
Only two of the six members of Uganda’s boxing team returned to Uganda, Uganda Boxing Federation president Muhangi Moses told AFP in Kampala after the first athletes returned on Tuesday evening.
Moses said that the team captain, as well as another team member and two female members, did not return.
However, the federation president said it is “too early to say that four boxers are missing,” noting that the athletes’ visas are still valid and team members are free to visit friends and family.
According to him, some team members are scheduled to return “later this week,” and others over the weekend.
“It is still too early to call it a disappearance. Let’s wait until their visas expire,” Moses said.
Games executive director Phil Batty told the UK’s Press Association on Monday: “We are working very closely with Scottish police, border security, and the UK visas and immigration services to ensure that everyone arrives and departs in compliance with the rules.”
Regional media also reported that one Pakistani boxer did not return home at the scheduled time.
