In promoting electricity demand, Siemens Energy's profit tripled

Excluding one-time income, such as last year’s sale of the business in India, Siemens Energy’s profit for the three months ending in June rose to 1.62 billion euros, compared to 497 million euros in the same period last year.

Order volumes – an indicator of future sales volumes – grew 8.5% during the quarter to nearly 18 billion euros, the company reported. And the total order backlog value stands at 162 billion euros.

“Global electricity demand – and, accordingly, demand for our products – remained high,” said CEO Christian Bruch. “We achieved record levels of orders, revenue, and profitability.”

According to the International Energy Agency, electricity consumption in US data centers is expected to more than triple by 2035, while currently such centers already account for 6–8% of all electricity consumed in the US.

This massive expansion has given a boost to suppliers like Siemens Energy.

The largest order growth was recorded in Siemens Energy’s gas division, which manufactures gas turbines. Here, order volume increased by 62%.
