Iranian agency "Fars" sources: Donald Trump's remarks about the agreement are a mixture of truth and lies

“Trump said that Iran must open the Strait of Hormuz without tolls, although such conditions are not in the text of the agreement,” Fars stated in its report.

Regarding the US president’s claim that Washington and Tehran will coordinate actions on the destruction of Iran’s enriched uranium, Fars declared: “Well-informed sources emphasized that not only is this not in the memorandum of agreement, but this statement is fundamentally unfounded.”

Sources added that the destruction of Iran’s nuclear materials is also not included in the agreement text.

Sources said that Iran demands “the immediate unblocking of $12 billion (10.3 billion euros) worth of frozen Iranian assets,” and warned that “until this payment is made, Iran will not move to the next stage of negotiations.”

Regarding Lebanon, sources reiterated Tehran’s call to declare “a complete ceasefire that meets the demands of the (fighter group) Hezbollah,” and added that any violation of that ceasefire “would be met with an immediate response.”

D. Trump wrote earlier on Friday on his platform Truth Social that he is preparing to make a final decision on whether to make a peace agreement with Iran covering several key issues causing disagreements in the negotiations.

“Iran must agree never to have a Nuclear Weapon or Bomb. The Strait of Hormuz must be opened immediately, without fees, so that shipping traffic in both directions is unimpeded,” he wrote.

D. Trump also noted that Iran’s enriched uranium stocks “will be dug up by the United States (…) in close cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency and will be DESTROYED.”

Recent media reports have claimed that Iran demands financial compensation for the war that began on February 28 with US and Israeli airstrikes. Tehran also demands that Washington unblock its previously frozen assets, and the White House, according to these reports, has raised the idea of investments.

However, D. Trump wrote that “no money will be exchanged unless otherwise notified.”

Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign affairs head Abbas Araghchi told his Omani counterpart that whether an agreement with the United States to end the war in the Middle East is reached depends on whether Washington abandons its “excessive demands.”
