“We ourselves offered help, as we are once again showing that we are a reliable country that helps, whether they are allies or not,” the minister noted.
He spoke this way at the Firefighters’ Rescue School when seeing off the Lithuanian firefighters’ rescue team to France. BNS reported that 40 officers are being sent – a management group and 32 firefighters.
Also being sent are nine specialized vehicles, including five fire trucks.

According to M. Katelynas, the mission will last as long as needed: “The French themselves will determine whether there is still a need or not. I think we will stay as long as necessary until we get tired. We understand that the staff of France, which has been fighting fires for more than a month, is exhausted, so reinforcement is needed, and I really think we will be useful.”
“We provide funding (for the mission – BNS) from the state budget,” he added.
As BNS reported, French firefighters in the Gironde region are fighting forest fires that forced the evacuation of 220,000 people. The fires destroyed more than 200 homes and devastated an area of 42,000 hectares.
